Kia Sorento still Australia's best SUV over $40,000

Ending the year on a high, the Kia Sorento was recently recognised as the number one SUV over $40,000 in the Australia's Best Cars awards.

Taking out the category for the award for the second consecutive year, the Kia Sorento was noted by judges as being "one of the most improved automotive manufacturing brands globally".

Overall running and repairs costs - underpinned by Kia's five year unlimited kilometres warranty - impressed some of Australia's top motoring experts associated with the nation's motoring clubs, including Queensland's own RACQ.

On-road features such as a 2.2 litre diesel engine and fuel economy measuring 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres, coupled with an all-wheel drive function for off-road travel, allowed the Kia Sorrento SLi to score better than both finalists - the Hyundai Santa Fe and Subaru Outback 2.5i in the SUV category.

Interior features also contributed to the success of the Kia Sorento, with judges highlighting the easy-to-reach ergonomic steering controls, eight-way adjustable driver's seat including lumbar support and increased leg room for second row passengers.

"Sorento boasts modern, powerful and economical drivetrains, high levels of occupant safety, a fantastic value for money equation, almost best in class warranty and more recently coming to grips with ride and handling on our unique Australian roads," the final review stated.
